 Main Event Programme Details
|
His Majesty's Government of Nepal (HMG/N) has decided to orginize Nepal Development Forum (NDF) 2004 in Kathmandu, from May 5-6, 2004 (Baishakh 23-24, 2061).
The key objectives of the NDF 2004 are:
- To take stock of HMG’s Agenda of Priority Reform Actions,
- To review the implementation of the Tenth Plan/PRSP and the Foreign Aid Policy as a means to increase aid effectiveness,
- To redefine development partnership: Experience from donor practices and donor harmonization,
- To enhance support for good governance and decentralization.
- To decided development strategies based on past experiences and to discuss adout donors participation and co-operation / assistance.
Participations
- Senior HMG Officials.
- Representatives of the political parties, civil societies, local body officials, private sector leaders and the media.
- Development Partners.
Discussion Papers
HMG will produce and present forward-looking papers which will discuss on HMG’s Priority Reforms and Ways Forward,
the implementation of Tenth Plan/PRSP, Poverty Status, and Monitoring & Evaluation Framework.
These paper will provide an overview and synthesis of the issue papers, the sectoral papers, FAP implementation, MTEF, IAP and public expenditure mangement.
Development Partners will take the lead in reviewing and presenting Nepal Economic Update for NDF background and further take lead in reviewing some issues including donor harmonization.
Expected Outcomes
- Review of PRSP implementation, donor practices and the foreign aid policy.
- Broad support from donors to address the financial gap in a responsive and flexible manner - budget support, fungibility.
- Commitments for new ways of development partnership: Donor Harmonization, Sector Approach, and Monitoring and Evaluation.
- Support for enhancing good governance and decentralization so as to increase better public service delivery and reduce corruption.
